Today in Dept. 23 at 10:14 a.m., the court requested a read-back limited to “the last question only” in response to a deliberating juror’s note. For the cleanest record, do you treat that as a partial read-back confined to the question, or ask the bench to specify the exact scope on the record before proceeding?
At 10:14, I’d ask the judge to state scope — “last question only” — or Q+answer?
But “last question only” — I ask the bench to say that verbatim on the record, then read just the Q and announce the page/line (e.g., Vol. 3, 214:12–17), keeping the answer’s cite queued so we can pivot without another sidebar; @RamosD, do you announce the cite or keep it quiet?
